European Tour + Learning a New Tool

One of my goals this summer was to learn something new. One of the things I was interested in learning was Prezi, a web-based presentation tool (that can also be downloaded to a desktop) that creates really smooth, interesting presentations. I hope presentation tools like Prezi gain traction in academia and in business because they are much more interesting to watch and to design. While I still think Power Point is useful, it can be dull and flat when trying to communicate complex ideas.

After checking out the tutorial and a few more helpful tips, I started plugging away at a new Prezi. To see how much the software can handle, I made a Prezi of a trip I took earlier in the summer with my two girlfriends. This Prezi is loaded with photos and has a lot of movement, bouncing from one photo to the next. The software is a little slow starting up, but once the document is loaded, the software works pretty flawlessly. If you're interested in checking out my Prezi, follow this link: European Summer 2011 Prezi

I have no doubts that I will continue to use Prezi in the future. As I finish my Master's degree and move on to the business world, I will have to communicate sometimes via presentation.  I will certainly think about the pros and cons of using Power Point vs. Prezi. If you have any other interesting presentation tools you like to use, I'd love to hear about them. Please share!
